Recycling
Every individual, charity, organisation, school, and business develop a
large amount of recyclable items, such as monitor, PC's, Printers, DVD
players, etc and in association with many other organisations, such as
Educational departments, County Councils, businesses, etc..... CHAD have
been able to develop a large recycling programme, where nothing is left
to waste (excuse the pun).
Currently CHAD ICT are able to remove serviceable RECYCLABLE items for
FREE, serviceable being items that are working and can be effectively
redistributed to the community, this does not include non working or
totally obsolete items, such as CRT monitors, 386, 486 PC's or anything
slower than a 750Mhz processor...... We are able to dispose of these
items correctly, but we see no benefit to the community when all we
would be doing is something provided already by your local authority, so
they need to be taken to your local recycling centre to be disposed of
correctly. It may sound like we are picking and choosing the items we
take, which is sort of the case, but we are not trying to duplicate
recycling centres, which are disposal centres only.....CHAD are trying
to use recyclable equipment in a way that it can be redistributed to
individuals, charities, etc for use in our communities, not just to make
a few quid in scrap....
PAT Testing
PAT testing (portable appliance testing) plays a large role in our
recycling programme and ensures all our recycled and redistributed
products are safe prior to them being redistributed. Please see details
on the far left of the page about our PAT testing services.
Training Services
Training also plays a part in our recycling programme....... All items
that come in for recycling need to be correctly processed prior to
redistribution, for instance you wouldn't want your family photos left
on a computer that you donated to CHAD for redistribution, would
you..................................................?
We didn't think so, which is why all computer hard drives are processed
by CHAD through a set system, which as a series of precautions built in
(training).......

Firstly all hard drives are stored prior to wiping in what is known as the CLEAN room, this room is locked at all times by key and by security touch pad and is not accessible to the general public. Hard drives are then individually wiped, this is not just a quick format like someone could do at home, but is a totally destructive operation that removes any and all remnants of data, totally!...................... We currently use the same software used by the US military, which is also sanctioned by the Microsoft corporation.
Once the hard drives are clean we can then think about installing them
into working units. Each unit needs to be hardware tested (including PAT
electrical testing), repaired if necessary prior to the installation of
Authorised
Microsoft
Operating Systems.
CHAD ICT are able to install original and Licensed Microsoft Software
because we are Microsoft Authorised Refurbishers and work in partnership
with Microsoft to provide quality and legal software when we
redistribute computer systems, this is also used as part of our internal
training programme and allows us to deliver training while preparing
computers for redistribution, so our training programme actually
provides real training (hands on) rather than just theoretical training.
If you would like to know more about our training services, please feel free to contact us.
